IGN Comics has an interview with artist David Finch on the relaunch of Batman: The Dark Knight:
IGN Comics: The Dark Knight has been the Batman book most focused on the supernatural aspects of the franchise. Would you say that’s still the case in Volume 2?
David Finch: No, we are going in a different direction in Volume 2. Volume 2 is a kid in a candy store Batman. It’s Batman with no limits and everything that I could possibly want to draw. I just wanted to take the lid off of the book.
IGN: With so many Batman-oriented #1 issues hitting the stands over the next few months, is there extra pressure to make sure your series stands out?
Finch: The work that Greg Capullo and Tony Daniel are doing, not to mention the great work being done by all of the artists on the other Batman related books is absolutely blowing me away. I feel like a real fan right now and I enjoy that this is a renaissance time for Batman. I’m just enjoying being a part of it.
IGN: How would you describe the writing relationship on this series? Are you and Paul Jenkins plotting the stories together?
Finch: I had a lot of ideas for what I wanted to do with the first six issues of the series, prior to when I was able to get Paul on board. Going forward we will be transitioning to Paul being the sole writer. Paul is very gracious and has allowed me to have a lot of input, but going forward this will be his story and ultimately the decisions about what happens in the story are his.
